Kettering Blocked Downpipe – Part 1
by steve
Got a blocked downpipe in Kettering? This local project breakdown shows how we handled a real-life call-out from a homeowner dealing with constant overflow during heavy rain. In Part 1, we’ll walk you through the issue and the inspection stage.
The Call-Out: What Happened:
We were contacted by a homeowner in central Kettering after they noticed water spilling over the edge of their gutter every time it rained. The downpipe on the rear of the house hadn’t been draining properly for months — and it was causing water to pool at the base of the wall.
Step 1: Inspection and Diagnosis:
We safely accessed the downpipe and surrounding gutter section
Removed a thick build-up of leaves, moss, and silt from the top elbow
Found a blockage further down in the bend above ground level
Identified signs of long-term overflow damage to the wall
What’s Next in Part 2:
In the next visit, we’ll:
- Fully clear the blocked lower section
- Flush the entire downpipe
- Check the underground drain connection
- Reinspect for any leaks or cracks
